Meet Firebelly: The Sydney Wuensch Interview
As Firebelly Marketing continues to grow, from dull embers to a towering inferno, we’re introducing you to the people that spark our ideas.
We are always adding the best and the very brightest, expanding our agency in order to provide unique creative strategies for our clients. Since social media is social in nature, we want to communicate on what exactly makes our people here at Firebelly tick and we’re continuing the series with Sydney Wuensch!
Meet Sydney. Sydney is our TikTok Specialist! She grew up in Fishers, Indiana where she lived in the same house her entire childhood. She went to IUPUI for college and majored in Media Arts and Science. Sydney says, “When I started college in 2019, TikTok was on the rise, I had no clue the word “TikTok” would be in my first career job title!”
How Do You Start Your Day?
My day starts with an alarm going off. I am a morning person so it doesn’t take me long to wake up. Sometimes I give in and scroll TikTok before getting out of bed. I have my breakfast while watching YouTube. Then I’ll head off to the gym or go out for a run.
Once I’m at work, my favorite part of the morning is yapping with my work besties!
What Is Your Daily Media Diet?
My daily media diet includes a lot of TikTok, how surprising! Instagram is my second favorite, mostly for keeping up with friends. I’d also consider the NYT Games as part of my media diet. My top 3 are Connections, the Mini Crossword, and Wordle. My drive to work is the perfect time to fit in a podcast. My favorite podcast genre is comedy!
How Do You Get Past Creative Blocks?
As soon as I get past the creative block I’m having with this question, I’ll let you know.
I took a walk, brainstormed with a friend, had some good food, and the creative juices were flowing. But for real, for me, creative blocks stem from many areas. Some being: lack of inspiration, staring at a project for too long, or my own creative fear. Those 3 activities help me a ton!
What's The Most Interesting Social Media News Story You’ve Seen Lately?
BeReal has been acquired by Voodoo. I still use the app and an advertisement (for Meta) popped up in my BeReal feed. I was caught off guard when I saw it, then did some research and saw it was acquired. I understand companies need to be profitable, but I hope they can keep the original and authentic intention of the platform intact.
What Pet Peeves Do You Have?
I love this question because Peeves is going to be the name of my first dog, simply so I can say, “Come over here Peeves let me pet you!“.
My pet peeves are, not using your turn signal, putting dishes in the dishwasher without scrubbing first, and people who take up two pieces of gym equipment at once.
What’s One Piece Of Advice You’d Give To Anyone?
Something I learned this year! Pick one challenge that scares you every year, that way, you will always have a monumental event to remember that year by. It can be any kind of challenge you want (physical, mental, creative, work-related, ect.). I ran a half marathon in May for my 2024 challenge. I’m already thinking about what it will be in 2025!
What’s The Strangest Talent You have?
Although jigsaw puzzles are puzzling, I am very good at them.
What’s One Thing You Would Change About Social Media?
I would remove the “highlight reel” aspect. Authenticity drew me and many others to TikTok. I love the platform because it exposes you to so many different people, their experiences, and their humor. Relatable content is better for us as humans because it helps us realize we aren’t alone and we don’t have to live up to unrealistic standards
